CALL Presentation

CALL Self Study can be the most exciting class for me in this semester. I'm surprised in every class by the amazing technology. Now I feel that on internet we can do almost everything.
First I learned how to create my blogger. And I have learned some new Web 2.0 technologies: TED.com, YouTube, Photobucket and RSS Reader. TED is my favourite Website. I like so many interesting topics on it. Most of the videos on TED is about 15 minutes, the time is probably very good (not too long or too short). I practiced my listening with many videos. YouTube is also a wonderful and very useful website. I use it very often because I can find everything on it, for example, music, all kinds of songs, arts, stories, news... Photobucket is also a very attracting website. On it I can enjoy my free time and get some new inspirations with so many beautiful pictures. And RSS Read became my own resource of information. I can get information conveniently and quickly on it.
In conclusion, I learned a lot in this CALL class. I will continue to use all these Web 2.0 technologies to further improve my English.

Review

I read some articles: 1. What is The TOEFL: http://american-accent-training.org/what-is-the-toefl . This article is about the meaning of TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language), why people take this test and how they take this test. 2. Speak Fluent English: http://american-accent-training.org/speak-fluent-english. They give some very good advises for speaking English fluently. The most important thing to do is practice anytime, anywhere and with anyone. This advise is very useful for me. 3. Xi Jinping takes reins of power in Beijing: http://www.chinapost.com.tw/china/national-news/2012/11/16/361127/Xi-Jinping.htm. It talks about the new leader in China, his goals and challenges he may face. About my subscription on YouTube.com, there are some new videos on Jeannette and FolgerLibrary. Note: I am not able to open Stephanie's blogger.

YouTube

YouTube is a website for sharing videos. The company uses Adobe Flash Video and HTML5 technology to create all kinds of videos. Registered users can upload videos while unregistered users can only watch videos. My channels: http://www.youtube.com/user/FolgerLibrary?feature=plcp; http://www.youtube.com/user/jikkehond?feature=plcp; http://www.youtube.com/user/GiantCreative?feature=plcp Videos that I watched: 1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PG7wyTW74W0&feature=relmfu , this video introduces a little history, development and functions of technology and describes the attitude of the youth today toward this high technology. 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dBT9mmizL8&feature=related , From this video I know that high technology is becoming the world culture today. This is also a time of more reflection 3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTIBDR4Dn2g&NR=1&feature=endscreen , the development of high technology also is a challenge for teachers. When students can get any information anywhere and anytime, teachers must be aware of the role of a teacher and the proper way of teaching. I practiced my listening with these videos and at the same time I got some new information about the education in the 21th century, it's very useful.

Photobucket Story

A little leaf, which begins its life silently, grows silently and ends its life silently. Almost no one notice it in its whole life. But it gives us many inspirations and speaks so much with its silence. In spring, a new life begins, it grows, gives new energy to the springtime and bring the new hope to the world. It becomes bigger and bigger, stronger and stronger. In summer, it gets to the top moment of its mission. With its body, making the shade for people who are suffering from the strong sunshine. In autumn, it turns color. It gives the most beauty to the world at the end of its life. When it fulfills its mission, with smile and grateful heart it says goodbye to the tree, which it loves the whole life. When it fells down on the ground, it turns itself into soil and gives nutrition to the earth. A Chinese proverb highly praised its spirit: “It turns itself into earth for giving the nutrition to the flowers of next spring.” We can say: a little leaf, but a great spirit! http://media.beta.photobucket.com/user/trooper6356/media/leaves_zps0ac059f3.jpg.html?filters[term]=leaves&filters[primary]=images&filters[featured_media]=1652&sort=1&o=52

Resources 3

Today I visited this website: http://www.esl-lab.com/problem/probrd1.htm I did an exercise of listening. I think this website is good for practicing and improving my listening skills.I will use it again. The listening topic is "Personal Problems". The speed of speaking is good for me, not too fast and not too slowly. And I learned some new words also from this listening, such as, baldness (noun): hair loss; to bring something up (verb phrase): to start talking about something; toupee (noun): a fake hair piece for men; retard (verb): slow or prevent.

TED.com

I watch the video named music and emotion through time and made a comment: http://www.ted.com/talks/michael_tilson_thomas_music_and_emotion_through_time.html This video is about the classical music: its meaning and evolve along the history. Classical music is a powful silent partner. It creat a new language that speaks very lovingly about who realy we are, and the language is still evolving. Mr.Michael Tilson Thomas talked about the two things in the music: THAT and HOW.Along the history we can see the different whats and hows of the music.

Blog is another word for weblog. A weblog is a website that is like a diary or journal.
Post is a single piece of writing on the blog. Posts often include links to other websites.
Comments for making blogs good for discussion.
An RSS feed is another program.
A blog have a power structure like that inside a political party. An advantage of blog is that even people outside that clique con comment on the original discussion.
